yesterday

i was too tired to write a post for yesterday so here goes...

interesting conversation topics at work
pauline and i really do discuss the strangest things. one topic we covered was how to get out of jury duty. apparently, it used to be really easy (like check off that you're a woman -- sounds super sexist, but this was way back when women didnt have as many rights). pauline told me about how she got out of two instances for jury duty. they're hilarious and i think she's brilliant. basically, you need to figure out what the trial is for and then assess the kind of jurors the lawyers want. now you do exactly the opposite and get disqualified. it's brilliant. she said it used to be that the more educated you are, the less likely you'll be chosen. however, in recent times, it doesnt matter so much. so much for that...

i borrowed a book off ILL and it's a collection of cartoons by Benita L. Epstein called "Interlibrary Loan Sharks and Seedy Roms." pauline and i started talking about bringing humor into the classroom and she showed me this book "The Whole Library Handbook 3" which has some really funny entries. i dont agree with all of them, but it's still funny nonetheless.

class canceled
i was actually pretty upset that my linear algebra prof canceled class. he was supposed to give back our midterms (it's the freaking last day of classes and we still havent gotten them back) and tell us what will be on the final. sigh...

so after i finished the amNY crossword, i teXed the rest of chapter 4 and ch5 of the lax book (while watching some episodes of digimon -- yea, yea, laugh all you want, but i really loved the show as a kid). the file is now 13 pages long. i probably wont need all that information for the final but at least i'll have it since i never bought the book. i'm so glad the library has them on reserve...

here is where i stick in "allan" and let him proclaim it a good post because his name is in it. LOL. but in all seriousness, allan and i spent some time trying to figure out what we should get people for christmas. it'll be awkward since this is the first christmas for us (as in my math group). i dont know john that well and i've got an idea what to get rae. i dont know sherry or jinyoung that well. and allan. hmmmm... something off thinkgeek? i'm not expecting any gifts from people. GAH, this is such a weird paradox. i dont want anything from anyone because i dont want to feel obligated to get them something too, but at the same time, if i get you something, you'll feel obligated to get me something even if you hadn't planned to. so i propose we just dont get anything for anyone. but that defeats the point of the season of giving... which means, we'd have to get something. in which case, we should all get something for everyone. which also translates to a lot of $$.

conclusion, if i like you, you'll get something next week (if i see you)... don't feel obligated to get me anything, because that something will probably be chocolate. unless i know ahead of time that you're allergic to chocolate... which i dont think anyone i know is... (danielle isn't but she doesnt like chocolate, but i already gave her her christmas presents early so it doesn't matter =) )

so today...
after work, i'll be going to the wake. i'm in black from head to toe. i need new boots. this will most definitely be the last time i wear these. i need comfortable boots... where to find those...

  1. i won't see its a good post only because you put my name in. however, it wasn't bad. you left out the part how we came up with the perfect gift ideas for rae (when are we going to get them?). anyways, i'll see you tomorrow. bringing you an episode of a tv show btw, just thought i'd let you know.
