first day back @ work

back to work! pauline bought me a really cute cactus from arizona! it comes in a pot with a magnet so i've stuck it on my fridge. it's so cuteee... (am i a geek for wanting to count its spirals and aeroles? lol, reminds me of Pau...) i havent been able to identify the species of this cactus. help?

just finished w
atching another bollywood movie: chori chori chupke chupke
i love rani mukerji and preity zinta. this movie has a lot of "pretty woman" moments, but there's a baby involved...

next movie (tomorrow): t
a ra rum pum (full)
starring saif ali khan and rani mukerji! saif is starting to lose his initial appeal for me, lol. maybe this movie will change that?

sunday...

last day of proctoring today. went pretty smoothly. liz left me in charge so it was slightly nerve-wracking. other than that... it was really cold. brrrrrr

still watching more hindi films!
  • 3 idiots
i thought this was cute. aamir khan does a really good job on playing the lead. i secretly love engineers, lol...
  • Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
i really like ashwarya rai... but the story is only ok. i dont believe a husband would really help his wife find her italian lover.
  • Dil Hai Tumhaara
rekha plays an amazing motherly part. it's the story of two girls raised together and falling in love with the same boy, but the boy is in love with the illegitimate daughter. misunderstandings, revelations, promises, unrequited love, etc... long story, lots of tears, lol.
  • Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
a lovely film with SRK. he gets married to the girl he just met but she doesnt love him. he creates an alter ego with whom she falls in love with. at one point, she was ready to run away with the alter ego, but decides ultimately not to. it ends well, lol. but i like SRK's alter ego's look better...
lol still looking for more subbed ones... i think every movie i've seen so far has made me cry. i'm such a sucker for romantic movies...lol

bollywood scifi

is very interesting. hrithik roshan is really an amazing actor. i'm watching krrish right now and he looks like mel gibson in the patriot, lol. i like hrithik without the long hair... this melodramatic-ness is actually making me laugh more than anything else. it's got a bunch of matrix-y elements in it.

also, hrithik has two thumbs on his right hand! i didnt even notice it when i watch his films. i had to read it on wikipedia before i started really seeing it. wow...

happy new year!

hope you have a wonderful new year! i, myself, am looking forward to all there is in store. i have no idea what to expect, but i expect it to be full of surprises. recounting these last two weeks...

before i forget... must add koi...mil gaya (full) because hrithik roshan is in it. plus, it's a scifi film. ^^ then i gotta find krrish (the sequel)... found it! (full). hmmmm... fun... another bollywood weekend, here i come!

now, as for new year's resolutions...
  • be open to meet more people
  • keep fit (somehow, lol)
  • eat more nutritiously (less chocolate and junk food, tho i still want my apple cider and hot chocolate)
mmm... it's kinda generally what i should be doing anyway, lol.
---------------------------------
this vacation passed barely with any breaks. i've been helping liz proctor at yeshiva college. she stresses me out, but i tried not to let it get to me too much. i spent christmas morning proctoring and then went to my aunts' house, where we had a large dinner with snacking all afternoon and mahjong with my siblings and cousin.

gotta get back into the mindset of work again next week. helping pauline do the powerpoint for the conference in mid-january. then i'm off to visit danielle in northampton for a few days! hmmm... busy busy.

on top of that, i've been working on the libguide, it's almost done! check the other post for all relevant details.

getting my bollywood fix

started yesterday, i could not stop watching bollywood films. thank you, veoh, for satiating my need ^^ here's a list of what i've watched and what i'm going to watch:
  • kuch kuch hota hai (part 1, part 2)
one of my favorite movies. SRK is the male lead. Kajol and Rani Mukerji are the female leads. the little girl gets a little annoying at times, but still, never fails to make me tear...
  • dostana (part 1, part 2)
john abraham is mainly the reason i watched this one (see post below and you'll understand). it's a cute (and progressive) film.
  • paheli (full)
this is the second time i've seen this one, also stars SRK. love the ghost factor...
  • baabul (full)
amazing cast (rani, salman khan, john abraham, big b, etc). this one really made me cry...
  • kuch naa kaho (full)
is soooooo cute. aishwarya rai and abhishek bachchan star in this. they're actually married in real life too, but this movie came before that. for the most part, i liked the story, tho she got on my nerves towards the end when she became wishy-washy.
  • na tum jaano...na hum (full)
has got to be the most romantic idealistic film ever. two people fall in love through letters and have never seen each other and dont even know each other's names or professions. and of course, they cross paths but a third person gets between them. (not a surprising bollywood storyline).
  • jab we met (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
two of the most beautiful mains i have ever seen. shahid kapoor is soo cute when he smiles. and i love kareena kapoor's character.
  • sholay (1, 2)
if i can find kal ho na ho, that's on the list too.... i need subtitles =(

EDIT: recommended by danielle to add sholay and bunti aur babli to the list...
EDIT2: more... veer zaara and chak de india

Note: i'm not allowed to watch laagan and devdas (yet), lol.
