One month update!

Alright, so I've been telling myself I need to write an update but every time I sit down to do it, I don't know how far back to retrace and then end up watching ST: Voyager instead. Well anyway, here's to a random update of things:
  • most of what i've been doing at work lately is collection development. i've been looking into the IOP journals and figuring out what we have access to and what we may eventually lose access to due to a rolling 10-year access wall. i managed to look at about 100 titles over the span of a week. next up is to figure out how to fill in the gap before we lose the content and to fix the catalog records.
  • i managed to answer one reference question since i've been here! i wonder if it's due to the timing of my arrival (end of one semester, intersession, etc). And i was the only librarian at work that day because everyone else was out sick. so hopefully, i was adequate?
  • jane and i are collaborating on doing a couple of sessions for phys7. i haven't had much teaching responsibilities yet, but we are planning workshops for seniors in april so i gotta figure out what i know and what i need to learn to teach it to someone else... i've done some nonformal teaching through plasma screen displays -- one on the solar flare of march 6 and one on the vernal/spring equinox. next up -- blog postings!
  • meetings! omg so many meetings! some days it feels like one meeting after another with barely time to digest what happened. can't say i'm surprised but it really does suck the time out of the day...
