june 6 -- WSF fair

it was absolutely crazy today. i signed up to volunteer for the world science festival street fair and it was held in the area around washington square park. for about an hour, another volunteer (deena?) and i walked around the fair passing out NASA stickers and directing people to their tent. it was fun. but the stickers soon ran out and we got reassigned to manage the staircase in the kimmel center. OMG it was crazy. it wasn't the people or kids. it was the security and building manager. i understand you want orderly, but these are kids and i cant discipline other people's children. i spent 4 hours directing traffic and describing the events happening in the building. my feet are soo tired. the woman who was also doing stair duty (albie?) was absolutely hilarious. she's a riot. and the information desk staff (jami and another woman) were saints. the fair was a lot of fun. i didnt get to participate much, but i met some really wonderful people.
