got woken up this morning to a frantic mommy yelling in my ear that the van got stolen. i popped out of bed and ran downstairs. (like that could've helped, but it was 7am. i wasn't quite awake). call 911 and it took half an hour for a police car to pull up at my house. we were starting to wonder if they forgot bout us. so after an hour, they finally figure out that we actually cant file the report because we don't own the car -_-" so now, it wont get done till sunday. just great, because i'll have to give up time (for sleep!) to translate.
met with meg this morning over coffee (hot chocolate for me). we talked bout what's been going on and getting this mentorship started. instructions weren't clear about what we're supposed to do, so we've preliminarily decided to meet fridays over coffee, tho the next time she's available is the first week of november (aka a long time from now). some things we covered included my experience with shadowing jerry, the SLA proposed name change (see previous post), the NY Times thing i was researching for pauline (she wants to know when the technology section started appearing on mondays), the first reference module cohort session (my disagreement with the bibliography thing - see my post regarding that for more details), my pretest essay (which i gave up at 2 pages), my horrible analysis midterm coming up, etc. that's all i can recall at the moment. we talked for a good 45 minutes.
checked myself into the 2nd fl computer lab at courant and proceeded to obsess over what classes to take next semester and beyond. forced myself to grab something to eat around 2:30 and came back to redo my entire schedule again because i was still debating. as of right now, i'm not touching it again. i've updated my webpage to reflect the latest changes.
went to kellen's review session for math analysis. it was definitely more interactive and he emphasized what the prof might put on the exam. it seems to be very definition and theorem oriented. gotta go memorize! (i really hate rote memorization - but it's unavoidable in this case). it's either i know it or i dont. i plan on attending sunday's session as well, even tho kellen says it'll cover pretty much the same material.
on a side note, who is actually reading my blog? lol. no one ever leaves comments... leave a presence if you're here! notice, i got bored with the previous blog layout =D
here is a link to amuse you... defacing federal monies is illegal by the way...
I READ THIS! After we talked, I wrote you an email with links to how to resubscribe to the PAM listserv, and links to articles comparing Wikipedia and Britannica in various ways, and links to Bobst research guides that might be helpful. And then I forgot to send it. So now I am!
