crazy morning!

so guess why we were stuck in traffic this morning for a brief moment?

because this guy had a silver gun pointed at another guy on the road. the scene was crazy. we were on the other side of the highway so we got the fullest view. the man with the gun -- his car (a black suv type) cut off two lanes. about two car spaces behind, the "culprit" (not sure what's going on, but i'll just label him as such) was on the ground (he was wearing sun glasses and a black jacket with a fur hood) a few feet away from his car (a sedan with its driverside door still open). there was a bystander car (what do you really call them?) right between the two vehicles with the two men right next to his driver side door. he was just leaning out of his window watching the guy on the ground. dad and i watched as the man with the gun slowly moved towards the guy on the ground and put his gun away (into its brown/tan pouch attached to his belt on his backside) when he got to him. the guy on the ground tried to get up. but the other guy forced him back down.

so that was the tidbit i caught. we had to keep driving since you really cant just sit there and watch the whole scene unfold. i wonder if anyone called the cops. dad thinks the guy with the gun is an undercover cop or someone higher up than the normal nypd you see on the streets (just cuz his gun wasn't black).

ok, so this is the backstory we came up with (talk about having an imagination). so let's name the three players here: the man with the gun = MG; the guy on the ground = GG; and the bystander car = BC. MG is driving in the middle lane, passes GG in the left lane, notices something wrong (dad thinks GG had a gun so MG had to take action fast - but i saw nothing that would actually suggest that was true cuz then you'd have a real gun fight on the highway), swerves part of his vehicle into the left lane to cut GG off. BC gets caught behind MG and GG is forced to brake. MG hops out of his vehicle and draws his gun, yelling something like "GET OUT OF THE CAR." GG gets out of the car cuz he doesnt want to get shot. MG tells him to get on the ground and the rest was the part we saw as we drove by.

i'm so curious to find out who MG and GG are and what really happened. it could've been like MG wasn't really a PO and just some guy with a gun. but his actions do suggest that he had some kind of PO training. and what did GG do? maybe it was drugs. or maybe it was a stolen vehicle.

anyway, freaking dangerous situation on the road. see, another reason not to learn to drive!!
